Product Introduction
1-1/2" CuNi 90/10 Pipe, also known as 1-1/2 inch copper nickel 90/10 pipe, is a high-performance corrosion-resistant alloy pipe mainly composed of copper and nickel. This material typically contains approximately 90% copper (Cu) and 10% nickel (Ni), with appropriate additions of iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) to further improve seawater corrosion resistance, erosion resistance, and mechanical strength.
The 1-1/2" 90/10 copper nickel alloy pipe refers to a seamless copper nickel alloy pipe with a nominal size of 1.5 inches, manufactured in strict accordance with international standards.
This product can be supplied in different forms according to customer requirements, including seamless pipe, welded pipe, fixed-length pipe, pickled pipe, polished pipe, etc. It can also be manufactured according to standards such as ASTM B466, ASTM B467, DIN 86019, DIN EN 12449, EEMUA 144, and other relevant specifications.
Material Grades
Common equivalent grades include:
CuNi 90/10
C70600
CuNi10Fe1Mn
CN102
CW352H
This alloy is a typical copper nickel alloy material, especially suitable for working conditions involving long-term contact with seawater or chloride-containing media.
Alloy Composition
The typical chemical composition of 90/10 copper nickel alloy / UNS C70600 is as follows:
| Element | Copper (Cu) | Nickel (Ni) | Iron (Fe) | Manganese (Mn) | Lead (Pb) | Carbon (C) |
| Content (%) | Balance / approx. 88.0 | 9.0 - 11.0 | 1.0 - 1.8 | 0.5 - 1.0 | ≤0.01 | ≤0.05 |
The addition of iron and manganese is the key to improving the alloy's corrosion resistance. Iron helps form a dense protective oxide film, while manganese improves casting and processing performance.

Product Performance Advantages
1. Excellent Seawater Corrosion Resistance
During service, the surface of the CuNi 90/10 pipe forms a dense and stable protective film, effectively reducing corrosion caused by seawater, salt spray, chloride ions, and other corrosive media.
2. Strong Erosion-Corrosion Resistance
The iron content added to CuNi 90/10 improves the material’s resistance to erosion-corrosion in flowing seawater, allowing the pipe to maintain good service stability even in high-velocity fluid environments.
3. Anti-Biofouling Performance
Copper nickel alloy has natural anti-biofouling properties, reducing the attachment of shellfish, algae, and other marine microorganisms on the inner wall of the pipe. For seawater systems, this feature can effectively reduce the risk of pipeline blockage, cleaning frequency, and maintenance costs.
4. Excellent Mechanical Properties
The pipe offers good strength and ductility, with stable performance under both low-temperature and high-temperature conditions, making it suitable for complex working environments.
5. Good Welding and Processing Performance
CuNi 90/10 pipe is easy to weld, bend, and form, meeting various engineering installation requirements.
6. Long Service Life
In seawater systems, its service life can usually reach more than 20 years, significantly reducing total life-cycle costs.

Copper Nickel Pipe Specifications and Selection Guide
1. Wall Thickness and Pressure Rating
According to design pressure and temperature, 90/10 copper nickel pipes are generally available in the following wall thickness grades:
Pressure Rating | Wall Thickness (mm) | Applicable Temperature Range | Typical Application |
| 10 bar | 1.5 | ≤ 75°C | Low-pressure seawater systems |
| 16 bar | 2.5 | -29°C ~ +75°C | Medium-pressure cooling and fire-fighting systems |
| 20 bar | 2.5 | -29°C ~ +38°C | High-pressure process pipelines |
According to EEMUA 234, the weight parameters of 1-1/2" copper nickel pipe with 44.5 mm outer diameter are as follows:
Pressure Rating | Wall Thickness | Theoretical Weight (kg/m) |
| 16 bar | 2.5 mm | 2.95 |
| 20 bar | 2.5 mm | 2.95 |
2. Tolerance Requirements
High-quality 90/10 copper nickel pipes strictly comply with the following tolerance standards:
Outer diameter tolerance: Conforms to BS EN 12449 and EEMUA 234 requirements
Wall thickness tolerance: Good uniformity to ensure the effectiveness of the pressure rating
Length tolerance: Standard fixed length of 5–6 meters, customizable upon request
3. Matching Pipe Fittings
A complete piping system requires compatible pipe fittings. The 1-1/2" 90/10 copper nickel alloy pipe can be matched with the following fittings:
Butt-weld fittings: elbows, tees, reducers, caps
Socket-weld fittings: suitable for small-diameter high-pressure applications
Flanges: loose flanges, weld neck flanges, Class 150, etc.
Compression fittings: flareless compression fittings
Typical parameters of corresponding 1-1/2" fittings:
Outer diameter: 1.90 inches
Actual OD reference: 48.26 mm / approx. 44.5 mm depending on standard
Butt-weld elbow/tee length, center to end: 2.25 inches / approx. 57 mm
