Product Overview
A Copper Nickel 45° Long Radius Elbow is a pipe fitting used to change the direction of a piping system by 45 degrees. It is manufactured from copper nickel alloy / CuNi alloy, providing excellent seawater corrosion resistance, good mechanical strength, and outstanding resistance to erosion corrosion. Its bending radius is usually 1.5 times the nominal pipe diameter / 1.5D, which is why it is called a Long Radius Elbow.
In industries such as offshore engineering, shipbuilding, seawater desalination, power plant cooling systems, and petrochemical processing, 45° long radius elbows allow smooth fluid direction changes while reducing pressure loss and fluid impact. They are one of the most widely used pipe fittings in marine piping systems.
Different from 90° elbows, the gentle 45° bend design significantly reduces fluid transmission resistance. The long radius arc transition helps prevent dead zones and turbulence accumulation, achieving both corrosion resistance and high fluid transmission efficiency. It is ideally suited for piping systems carrying chloride-containing media, seawater, brine, cooling saltwater, and other highly corrosive fluids.

Manufacturing Process of C70600 CuNi 45° Long Radius Elbow
1.Raw Material Selection
High-purity copper nickel seamless pipes are selected according to national standards. Incoming materials are tested by spectrometer to verify the content of nickel, iron, manganese, and other elements, preventing the mixing of non-conforming materials.
2.Precision Forming
According to different specifications, cold bending or hot pushing processes are selected. Temperature is precisely controlled during forming to ensure the standard 45° bending angle and 1.5D bending radius, with uniform and symmetrical arc shape.
3.Bevel End Machining
Both pipe ends are CNC-machined with standard welding bevels. The wall thickness remains uniform without thinning, meeting the requirements of on-site butt welding construction.
4.Internal and External Polishing
The inner and outer surfaces are polished in stages to remove oxide scale, scratches, processing oil, and other impurities.
5.NDT and Pressure Testing
Each elbow is subjected to PT penetrant testing and hydrostatic or air tightness pressure testing to eliminate defects such as sand holes and cracks.
6.Anti-Corrosion Protection and Packaging
Finished products are dried and treated for rust prevention. Each product is individually wrapped with moisture-proof film and packed in wooden cases to prevent moisture and oxidation during transportation.
Product Advantages
1.Excellent Seawater Corrosion Resistance
Copper nickel alloy can form a dense and stable protective film in seawater environments, effectively resisting corrosion caused by seawater, salt spray, and chloride ions.
2.Anti-Biofouling Performance
Copper ions have a slow-release antibacterial effect, and the marine organism attachment rate is significantly lower than that of stainless steel. This property gives copper nickel elbows an irreplaceable advantage in marine environments such as seawater cooling systems and ship piping systems.
3.High Temperature and High Pressure Resistance
Copper nickel 45° long radius elbows can withstand temperatures up to 500°F / approx. 260°C and pressures up to 2,000 psi, making them suitable for a variety of demanding working conditions.
4.Good Weldability and Machinability
Copper nickel alloy has excellent welding properties. Seamless elbows are integrally formed, with dense structure, uniform wall thickness, and no weld seam risk, making them suitable for high-pressure and corrosion-resistant piping systems.
5.Low Flow Resistance and Less Scaling
The 45° angle combined with the long radius design allows smoother fluid turning, reduces turbulence and pressure loss, and improves overall system efficiency.
Application Fields
Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering
Used in seawater cooling pipelines, sea suction lines, ballast water systems, and engine room fresh water circulation pipelines for ocean-going cargo ships, yachts, and naval vessels. Suitable for projects requiring classification society material certification such as CCS and DNV.
Seawater Desalination Industry
Applied in seawater inlet and outlet pipelines of reverse osmosis desalination units, concentrated brine transmission pipelines, and heat exchange cooling system fittings.
Coastal Thermal Power and Nuclear Power Plants
Used in open seawater circulating cooling systems and condenser supporting pipelines in coastal power plants, providing resistance to salt spray corrosion.
Offshore Platforms and Oil & Gas
Suitable for seawater fire-fighting pipelines, process cooling pipelines, and shallow subsea fluid transmission pipelines on offshore drilling platforms.
Chemical and Brine Industries
Used in brine transportation in salt plants, mildly corrosive medium circulation pipelines in salt chemical plants, and swimming pool saltwater circulation systems.
