Product Overview
A Copper Nickel 90° Long Radius Elbow is a key pipe fitting used to change the direction of piping systems by 90 degrees. Its bending radius is usually 1.5 times the nominal pipe size/NPS, which is why it is called a Long Radius Elbow.
Copper nickel 90° long radius elbows are manufactured from copper nickel alloy/Cu-Ni alloy, offering excellent seawater corrosion resistance, good mechanical strength, and outstanding resistance to erosion corrosion. They are widely used in shipbuilding, offshore engineering, seawater desalination, power plants, petrochemical industries, and marine energy development.
Compared with short radius elbows, long radius elbows can effectively reduce flow resistance and pressure loss, improving fluid transmission efficiency. Therefore, they are often the preferred elbow type in marine and industrial piping systems.
Common materials for copper nickel 90° long radius elbows include CuNi 90/10 and CuNi 70/30. Among them, CuNi 90/10 elbows offer excellent overall performance, strong seawater corrosion resistance, and relatively economical cost, making them one of the most widely used copper nickel alloy fittings in seawater piping systems.
MC manufactures copper nickel elbow products in accordance with standards such as ASME B16.9, ASTM B151/B171, GB/T 5231, and other applicable specifications. For marine applications, products can be supplied with classification society certificates such as ABS, DNV, CCS, LR, etc.

Performance Features of 90° LR Elbows
1.Excellent Seawater Corrosion Resistance
Copper nickel alloy can form a stable protective film in seawater environments, effectively resisting pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, galvanic corrosion, and marine atmospheric corrosion. Even after long-term exposure to marine environments, it maintains reliable service performance.
2.Strong Resistance to Erosion Corrosion
In seawater cooling systems, fire protection systems, or circulating water pipelines, the medium usually flows at a certain velocity. Compared with ordinary materials, copper nickel alloy offers better erosion corrosion resistance and can remain stable under relatively high flow-rate conditions.
3.Good Weldability
The product can be used together with copper nickel pipes, copper nickel flanges, copper nickel tees, reducers, and other fittings. After proper welding, it forms a strong piping connection structure, ensuring system sealing performance and operational safety.
4.Low Flow Resistance
The long radius structure can significantly reduce fluid flow resistance, lower pressure loss, and minimize turbulence and impact. This helps improve the transmission efficiency of the entire piping system.
5.Long Service Life
In marine environments, copper nickel pipe fittings typically have a service life of more than 20 years.
